Favorite Movie and TV Moms

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there - especially my wonderful mom! In the spirit of the day I figured I would make a list of my favorite movie and TV moms and why they’re great. The list is in no particular order. Let me know who your favorite movie and TV moms are in the comments.

Mrs. Costanza, Seinfeld - Where to start with her? Her, her husband Frank, and George were all just as crazy as one another and provided some of the funniest bits in the show’s run when they were on screen together.

Kitty Forman, That 70’s Show - Bubbly, ditzy, crazy, overbearing, and loving are the best words to describe Kitty. She was a source of some of the funniest (her getting stoned is one of my favorites) and most heartfelt moments throughout That 70’s Show. She loved having the gang hanging out in her basement, and treated them like her own children - especially Hyde whom she essentially became his foster mother. Plus she was the only one who could stand up to Red.

Linda Belcher, Bob’s Burgers - Eccentric is an understatement when it comes to describing Linda. Much like Kitty Linda is bubbly, ditzy, crazy, overbearing, and incredibly loving. She loves Bob and her kids as much as she loves singing. She might be the funniest character on the show in my opinion.

Lois Griffin, Family Guy - She’s a saint for everything Peter has put her through and her rampage through the town during “A Very Special Family Guy Freakin' Christmas” made the episode a classic in Family Guy’s  history.

Marge Simpson, The Simpsons - Another saint for dealing with everything her family and Springfield itself has put her through while still trying to be an excellent wife and mother. Plus, most of the Marge-centric episodes are the best in the show’s nearly 30 season run.

Molly Weasley, Harry Potter - Another loving and overbearing mother, but she was also a true badass. She treated Harry like he was her own son. She never backed down in the face of danger, protecting her family above all. She took on some of the most powerful witches and wizards and still had time to make Ron those ugly sweaters made with love.

Sophia Petrillo, The Golden Girls - The funniest character on the show.

Sarah Connor, Terminator - She took on the ultimate killing machines from the future to protect her son. The most badass mom in movie history? I’d say so.

Sharon Morris - Watch the show Catastrophe (I highly recommend it) and you’ll understand.
